Cinema Residency August 19th 2023 – Come Home Journal #16

It’s a week before bump in and also International Dance Day.

Don’t believe everything you think!

I’m your classic over-thinker. I’m also what Catherine Deveny called a master procrastinator. In that case I wrote a feature film script to avoid, yes, writing a feature film script. Next level procrastination.

I make what Earnest Hemingway called ‘engagements’. Appointments for walks, coffee, important discussion, unimportant discussion.

Hemingway said “… if you could keep from making engagements, each day had no limits.” So I limit myself in the search for distractions.

And despite constant talking about dancing as often as I can, it generally takes second place to most other engagements.

In a fit of being totally over myself I promised myself to dance each day of the residency. I made sure that I would dance into and out of this space that had been given to me, every, single, day.

And true as can be…
